Greetings from Argentina, my name is Matias Halac and I was born in Detroit, but my family moved to Argentina when I was 7 years old.
I am fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese (I also lived in Brazil).
I've been playing chess for most of my life. I started with the basics at 6 and participated in my first tournament at 9.

I rarely play chess OTB since I put competition aside after my university career in journalism.
The last standard tournament I participated in was the 1992 U-18 World Chess Tournament in Duisburg, Germany, after being Argerntina's champion.
