Hrant Melkumyan is an Armenian grandmaster who won the European Blitz Championship in 2011. After a strong showing in the 2014 European Individual Championship (7.5/11), he competed in the 2015 World Cup and defeated GM Gata Kamsky in the first round before losing in the next round. Melkumyan placed second and fourth at the 2006 World U18 and 2008 World Junior Championships, respectively.

Melkumyan won silver at the 2015 European Team Chess Championship and bronze at the 2015 World Team Chess Championship with Armenian national team.

In late 2011, Melkumyan started working as GM Levon Aronian’s second.

Melkumyan won a silver medal with Team Armenia at the 2022 FIDE Olympiad.
