Aleksandr Rakhmanov is a Russian grandmaster. In 2007, he placed third in both the European U-18 Championship and the World U-18 Championship. The next year, he won the Paleochora Open and the Heraklion Open. In the Chess World Cup 2019, he defeated higher-seeded GM Nils Grandelius 1.5-.5 to make it to the second round, where he lost to GM Vidit Gujrathi. Rakhmanov is ranked in the world’s top-100 players (as of March 2021).
