Ruy López Opening: Jaenisch Gambit

A gambit answer to the Ruy Lopez - Black's move 3...f5 strikes the white center from the side, leading to great complications in many cases.

Pros:

• Black tries to grab the initiative
• Black can often gain a strong pawn center
• The f-file can be used by a black rook.

Cons:

• Black can end up down one or two pawns
• The black king is exposed
• There are many forcing variations
