The 2011/12 Hastings International Chess Congress ran from 28 December - 5 January.

The Masters section was a 9-round Swiss event and top seeded Wang Yue of China claimed first prize with a score of 7½/9.

The historic town of Hastings on the southern coast of England has hosted chess tournaments for over a century, most famously the 1895 Hastings tournament which is regarded as one of the strongest tournaments ever held.
