Aloha from the President of the Hawaii Chess Federation.  The root words of aloha are alo (face contact/presence) and ha (shared breath).  Chess players worldwide are unified by our enthusiasm to sit patiently across the board, sharing presence-and-breath (aloha) as we contemplate the profound mysteries of a complex universe of just 64 squares. The FIDE motto says it well: Gens una sumus (we are one people).

I organize and direct in-person tournaments for K-12 students, as well as tournaments and matches at Chess.com.  I coach other chess coaches to start and build their school programs and to become tournament directors.

Human dignity is more important than winning. I will never cheat my opponents and ask the same of them. Cheating is an insult to the dignity of both players.

My proud moments as a life-long amateur chess enthusiast:

Hablo español.

Ego legere potest aliquam Latine.

Ich spreche kein deutch.

Я не понимаю этих слов.

الخط العربي جميل جدا! أتمنى أن أتمكن من قراءته.

Ke a'o ne au i ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi.
