Basic Description[Last Updated 02/27/2024]
Became VA State Amateur Chess Champion at age 14.
I have had a USCF rating floor of 2000 since August 2005 after winning clear first in the U2000 section in the 2005 Atlantic Open (Peak USCF Classical rating = 2122).
Since July 2014, I have held the norms-based USCF Candidate Master title.
I tied for 2nd in the Open Section of the 2013 VA State Chess Championship where I was the only person to not lose to (rather win against) the state champion for that year. My performance in this tournament (which includes going 3.5-1.5 against National Masters) made me think I was capable of making National Master at some point. I probably could have made National Master by now if I was more active OTB instead of only being able to play in 2-4 classical-rated tourneys per year since 2013 due to financial constraints and not living in a big chess area. Let's see if I can make NM by the end of 2024.
