I learned the rules and moves behind the game of chess at the age of 10 but due to a rough first attempt at club play I put the game behind me and moved on. Later on, at the age of 16 I decided to join the my high school's chess team and give it another go. Thanks to my biology teacher/chess coach and peers, I learned key ideas behind positional and tactical play. I became hooked to the game and progressed fairly well in tournament play. I hope to continue improving even now when my high school and tournament playing days are behind me. My goals in chess are to increase my CFC rating (currently 1184) if I ever do decide to return to tournament play.
