The Pawngrabbers finished their 2nd season in the PRO Chess League, placing 2nd in the division and clinched a spot in the 2018 playoffs. Backed by GMs Awonder Liang and Alexander Shabalov, the Pawngrabbers toppled heavyweights like the St Louis Archbishops, Webster Windmills, and the Montreal Chessbrahs throughout the year.
In the PRO League's inaugural season, Pittsburgh finished 3-4 in the Pacific Division, with wins against the Lagos Leatherbacks, Portland Rain, and Minnesota Blizzard.
